Drag it up to just under the file menu, it should redock (it did when I just tested this). When you see a cyan-ish color band under the file menu, release it..
Hi there, You can rearrange your workspace by dragging the tab on each box and placing it somewhere else. The tab is always to the left of the title of the box (you drag it by the 5 little dots/indents), and you can drag and drop wherever you want, and blue will appear where it will redock - or just go: Window > Workspace > Standard, which is the default workspace setting. Hope this helps and if this isn't what you want just reply back ;)
Whenever I drag it, it just fills the screen, rather than docking itself neatly and small under the file menu.
The procedure requires you to also undock all other panels. Docking the toolbar only works when you see the main program canvas, a limitation with the panel being so special and having two layout styles. As a short way out, simply delete the user defined workspaces:
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Adobe\After Effects\8.0\ModifiedUserWorkspaces
By default the directory is invisible, so adjust your folder view options accordingly. This should reset all workspaces.
You should be able to just reset your workspace (Window > Workspace > Reset).
