I'm not exactly following you.
Did you import the tga files as a sequence or a bunch of stills that you sequenced in AE?
If imported as a sequence, what is the frame rate set to in file interpretation?
How are you setting up the render?
I've never had any trouble rendering time remapped comps.
Sounds like there are some corrupt files in your sequence. Could you paste the entire error message so we can look at it?

The tga's were imported as a sequence.
Ive just been stripping out my compositions trying to find the culpret...
I turned off my audio file which seems to be letting my machine render a bit more convincingly... not sure if it could be down to this?

To what CoDec/ compression are you rendering? Most of these errors usually pertain to dedicated output modules for WMV, MPEG-II and so on...
