You might try to use your Emerge layer text as a LUMA MATTE for the color of your text. If you keep the text black/white, it should work.
Thanks for that - the problem I now have is that I can see the text outline over the background before its revealed. Its hard to explain in words - ive uploaded the very simple file below - if you could take a quick look that would be great, Or if you've understood my bad description of the problem and know of a solution - even better! :)
I also cant seem to be able to get the whole of the text covered at the start of the transition either for some reason no matter how I try, not sure what Im doing wrong :-s
thanks again for your help!
I think you may have inverted the layers. I haven't looked to closely, but I don't really know why you have two separate text layers.
Sorry - I just noticed in my file that index1 has a stroke value of "1", it should be "0".
thanks very much - thats great!
Im very much a newbe to AE - still haven't quite got how masking really works yet
Hi, I'm having trouble making the emerge preset work for any text. After applying the preset to a line of text and running through the timline, the text doesn't appear to change, even after a RAM preview and the only thing that appears around the text are red lines that shift from letter to letter as the timeline progresses. Any advice?
