I used to be able to double-click QuickTime footage items in the project panel and preview them in a simplified QuickTime player. Now when I double-click a .mov file in the project panel, it just appears in the footage panel. Whereas, before I would have to hold down Alt while double-clicking the .mov to go directly to the footage panel. So I'm wondering what happended to the QuickTime preview?
I have QuickTime player 7.41 and After Effects 126.96.36.199.
Could this have something to do with the latest version of QuickTime?
Yes, but I'm not clear why it is surprising to you. AE will open any file with a proper CoDec it understands as a footage item, which has been this way ever since AE7. It would only open incompatible files as a QT player, but it happens so rarely I can't even remember it. Or am I misunderstanding you?
