    Redcode Raw in AE

    Level 1
I'm beginning post production on my first project shot on the Red One. Does anyone have experience working with the Red's 4k files in AE? Is there any way to work from the raw files? If not, to what format did you convert them?

I'm doing a considerable amount of compositing work so high chroma resolution is important.

      All the Best,
      Ari

To my knowledge, only Final Cut Pro and Scratch are able to read the raw files directly. All other apps need to be fed DPX, TIFF or something similar that can be exported via one of the conversion tools.

Hoping to do a major documentary on RED this fall...

To add to Jonas' answer: To my knowledge, a more generalised revision of the CoDecs is due some time this year that may work with AE and other programs, but as with all things RED, the schedule is sketchy. In the meantime outputting to DPX or TIFF seems the only option. Stu Maschwitz has some posts regarding this on his blog (prolost.blogspot.com) for finding the correct whitepoints and Gamma.
