You can replace the footage source of a layer by clicking on the layer, then holding Alt and dragging the new footage from the project window onto the layer.
You can replace one footage item entirely with another by right-clicking on the item in the project window and choosing "replace footage".
Step 1: Search for "replace layer" in Help on the Web.
Step 2: Click first link in list of search results ( "Create layers from footage items").
Step 3: Follow instructions in the last section on that page, "Replace layer sources with references to another footage item".
Andrew, thanks for the reply.
Toddy, I apologize for my trivial questions. I'm at work and don't have access to help. I have a bad habit of having a question pop in my head while at work and I can't wait to do research on the answer. I know it's impulsive and impatient of me, but I can't help myself.
Again, sorry =)
To make things worse (again I apologize for wasting anyones time) I did a search and realized I asked the same question a while back.
Oh, I forgot. I really do appreciate everyone here who has gone above and beyond to help me. Anyone who has responded to one of my posts has been most helpful!!!
There's no need to apologize. Learning how we can all get the most use out of the various resources (like forums and Help) can take time, just like learning the After Effects application itself.
I am curious about your inability to access Help when you're at work. Email me at kopriva [at] adobe [dot] com if you don't mind. The thought that we're leaving someone without access to Help is troublesome. If you have access to After Effects or the Web, you should have access to Help. If this is broken, we need to know so that we can fix it.
