    AE CS3 error

Good morning. I am using After Effects CS3 but whenever I try to import a MP3 file into my project I get the following error message:

"After Effects error: Can't import file "xyz,mp3": unsupported filetype of extension.

      (0 : 1)"

I can play the MP3 just fine with other apps. I can import other files into AE CS3 no problem (other than MP3).

Can anyone assist with this error?

      Thanks in advance,
      Dan

Simply put: If AE doesn't like it, then it's not a proper MP3. Possibly it has some additional tags attached, is a multichannel MP3, has copyright bits, variable bitrates at odd settings, a crooked frame structure, encrypted sections (download shop?) or whatever. I'm afraid you simply will not be able to avoid converting it to a WAV file or something you can use.

Just an observation: the file name in your post has a comma rather than a period, which may cause AE to read the file type incorrectly.

Either way, follow Mylenium's advice above. Don't use MP3s in AE.
