Or a plug-in:
Or a dedicated morphing app
Or $90k facial animaion program (with extreme support) and maybe vicon or something for mocap system.... :) http://www.softimage.com/products/facerobot/ Maybe a bit overkill for 1 personal project.. :P
This is an interesting read though. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/industry/4264771.html?series=6
I've gotten some very cool results morphing elements using Mesh Warp and some well placed opacity layers with blending (transfer) modes. All included in After Effects (nothing to buy). It's a bit advanced, but fools the eye nicely.
silversurfer has got the right idea i think; see i dont want to morph 2 images, but take a static image of my cats face - and a video of my face with different facial expressions, and morph my mouth, checks, eyes, eyebrows onto his. i dont want to morph my exact mouth onto his, but take my mouth's facial features, and make my cat look like he is talking
And lest we forget there's also still Reshape included in Ae. Not the most elegant morphing effect fir sure, but might help out to create one or the other inbetween step.
