Graphics card questions are common on this NG, and I paraphrase the most
common answer in saying that you should mostly discard considerations of
pairing AE and OpenGL. The boost you would get is typically described as
so negligible that it is not worth taking into account.
tanks, for your advice
A current generation $150 card is more than enough for After Effects.
AE's OpenGL can be handy when you are working with 3D layers and cameras. ATI's drivers used to be really buggy, but the word from my sources is that they have really improved in the last year, so ATI + AE now works just as well as Nvidia (even though the Nvidia 8800 has had problems.)
