You will get more useful feedback if you describe what you have tried.
Have you tried adding a Light to the scene?
Sorry about that.. Yup, I have tried adding a light, turning on cast shadows and making my people 3d layers that cast shadows, and it resulted in nothing! I was surprised about this... I also made my bg image 3d and receive shadows... Is there something else I must do?
You need a layer to act as a ground plane to receive the shadows, and you need to set its blend mode to Multiply or a similar mode, so the shadow layer will darken the background but not obscure it.
Of course, to make it more convincing, you'll need some fill lighting to mimic the way the sky provides general illumination (a bluish ambient light is a good starting point) and you'll want to color correct your people to make them look like they are outdoors. Right now most of them are much too dark, and their coloration is too warm for them to be under a blue sky and fluffy white clouds.
