    Write On baby?

Using the Paint Brush tool in AE, you can set duration to Write On and it records the rate at which you draw things, groovy. But then you lift the pen and your line goes away, cause your now looking at its beginning in time. Totally understandable, but is there away to leave the final line there so you can see it while you draw your next line?

Ideally, I'd like to be able to fade up and down an overlay of the final image on top of the current time so you can see both.

Thought about doing it with a precomp and duplicate layer time remapped to the end, but since you can only 'paint' on a layer directly, I dont think that would work?

When are we gonna be able to paint over a comp?

You can use snapshots in the layer window just as you can use them in the comp window. Still a bit unpractical, I grant you that, but works on some level. As for the other item - maybe in After Efects Extended Extremely Useful Anniversary edition CS500 in 2015... ;-)
