Need help Exporting with alph channel/transparency

I have a painted title (that moves a little) that I am trying to export as a quicktime video, to then import into AVID pro. In AE it appears that the background is tranparent, but when I export it is just black, and covers anything below it on the timeline.

Several people on this forum have mentioned an animation codec, but I can't figure out what that is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the OUTPUT manager, you'll want to set your QuickTime preferences to a format that will allow for an embedded alpha channel (or render a separate alpha).

You can choose "Lossless+Alpha" from the presets, or from the Format button, choose Quicktime that allows for MILLIONS+. The little "+" (plus) is for "PLUS ALPHA".

Don't forget that Avid flips the hicon, so you'll want to INVERT the alpha channel when you get it into Avid. (this doesn't happen on most other NLEs or compositors)
