AE does not start, memory out 23::40 message appears.

      Hey everyone,

I just tried to install After Effects CS3 on my iMac. Installation works out fine, but then when I try to open the program it shows me a message window: Out of Memory ( 23 :: 40 ). After that a message comes about "licensing for this product has stopped working".

I'm running Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.4.
      Computer specs: 3,06Ghz, 4GB Ram, 1TB, Geforce 8800GT.

      I already tried reinstalling.
Can anyone help me out here?

      Thanks,
      Maxim

Did the install note any components not being installed? Have you ever had trial versions of Adobe products on the system? If so, did you run the CS§ clean scripts before install and were the products removed before their trial period expired? I'd look into these things first. Also please watch the startup screen closely while launching the product. Perhaps it's actually crashing with OpenGL or MediaCore, which would point to conflicts with other Adobe programs or a general issue with the graphics card (which, unfortunately, are not uncommen with 88xx cards).

Here are a few tips for the best CS3 installation:

If that doesn't help, please contact Adobe's free installation phone support. Local numbers can be found at:

Thanks for the help so far people.

I have tried all the hints you gave me, but no result. I also tried to install in a fresh new account, but same thing. I believe this might be a problem with my GPU. Are there any drivers out there for Mac that can help me out?

It is really really annoying since I need to do some work fast. Adobe phone support isn't free here in Belgium, so that's not an option either. I really think it has to do with the Geforce 8800 card.

No, not really. You could contact Apple and ask if they grant you access to some of the Beta drivers that may be in development for Mac (NVidia never releases them directly), but that pretty much is the extent of all wisdom here. I'm really more of a Windows guy (even though I have a MacBook Pro) and could provide you with a ton of hacks for it, but on OSX I really cannot yet provide the same deep insights. It certainly is possible to manually set some config options in soem cryptic file, bgut I don'T know what that would be. As a minor, you should try one last time to trash the prefs and launch AE. I also recommend downloading OnyX or similar tools to clean out your other system caches. Maybe cleaning out the icon, font and CoreImage caches can do some good? Also try to log the program startup as per the instructions provided on Jonas' page. If we knew whta is the last valid "tick" being logged, perhaps we can provide more concrete tips.

Adobe's support for installation and basic issues like yours is free world-wide, especially since it complains about licensing issues. Go ahead and call!
