Neil Wilkes Dec 1, 2007 4:01 AM (in response to (W_Vought))Sorry, but the bad news is basically there is no such thing available to you as a small user.
ALL Copy Protection methods are applied at replication with the exception of those that rely on deliberately altering the disc structure on written media - and written media has it's own problems.
Lets look at what is available to you.
1 - CSS - Free to add, useless.
2 - AGP (AKA Macrovision) - Setup fee, plus a per disc royalty. Fairly easily breached.
3 - ARcoSS - Setup fee, Per disc royalty. Easy to breach.
Truth be told, all any CP systems will do is keep honest users honest as a $25 download will breach the lot. -

Ruud Blauw Dec 1, 2007 4:57 PM (in response to (W_Vought))Although I think it will prove to be as breakable as all the protection for replicated DVDs, Rimage says that it has or will have something for writable DVDs: Rimage Video Protect Anti-Rip Technology Debuts at NAB . -

Trouble is that this is only going to be an option for their "Producer" Series.....not cheap!
We are also looking at a duplication protection system that works by making rippers believe the DVD is not properly mastered.
Early results are encouraging. -
