John T Smith Sep 14, 2006 1:06 PM (in response to jefbak)Do you have ANY overrides set? -

jefbak Sep 14, 2006 4:25 PM (in response to jefbak)I was just trying to understand the overrides. Does Stop mean that the menu will loop (if it has video and audio set to loop) or just stop?
On the flowchart, for the disc there are no overrides. For first play there are no overrides. No I don't see any. The only thing I wanted to make sure of was the the main menu would loop. -

if you imported a menu fist - encore will automatically set it for first play and yellow icon will be shown on the asset in the project panel, but that is not a problem right click on that and "clean first play" then click on the asset you want to be first played and set it for first play, and that will fix the first play problem.
to set up menu for loop - you would have to set up the end action of that menu to the same menu usually I choose default. and in the motion option of the menu property - check up "loop buttons" and select forever form drop down selection window. thats all and don't forget to preview. -

jefbak Sep 26, 2006 3:23 PM (in response to jefbak)Thanks!
I think I have it working now. The first proof that came back from Customflix did not have the first play working right, but my last attempt seems to have worked. -
5. Re: First Play not working?
(Allan_Gimbel) Oct 7, 2006 11:13 AM (in response to jefbak)I have a simple one video project. My first play is a two part menu (main Menu), 1 is play video, and 2 is scenes index. It all works fine except that the main video has 12 chapters and they are followed by 12 poster frames, one for each chapter. I've tried many possibilities, however when playing the full video (play video button) it will play through the 12 chapters and continue on playing the 12 poster frames. I simply want it to stop at the end of the 12 chapters and go back to the main menu. It seems like it should be so simple, but I can't get it to work. Help.

6. Re: First Play not working?
Jeff Bellune Oct 7, 2006 1:30 PM (in response to jefbak)"Poster Frame" describes a particular Encore property. Specifically, a poster frame is a property of a chapter marker; it's not something that can be played. Since what you are describing is not possible, we have to sort out terminology.
Do you really mean Encore poster frames, or do you mean a timeline or a slideshow with images from the various chapters (or other images)?
If the latter, then check both the end action and the override for the full video timeline. The end action should link back to the main menu and the override should be "Not Set". -
7. Re: First Play not working?
(Jim_Fountain) Oct 8, 2006 6:29 PM (in response to jefbak)I've created two DVDs now for the same project and have solved most of the problems except my First Play (FBI warning etc.) only plays the first time the DVD is played. On subsequent plays, it starts at the main menu which is the end action for the First Play.
I seem to remember reading or hearing that there was an option to have the First Play occur only the first time the DVD was played but I can't find where I heard or read it and I can't find anywhere in the program to turn it on or off. -
8. Re: First Play not working?
Joe Bowden Oct 9, 2006 5:40 AM (in response to jefbak)First Play executes immediately after the disc is inserted into the DVD player- that's the only time it plays. To replay FP, eject, then reinsert the disc into the player. -

(Allan_Gimbel) Oct 9, 2006 5:54 AM (in response to jefbak)Hi Jeff
This is my first Encore 2.0 DVD. I don't quite understand what you have told me. I have a single timeline in Encore that has 12 Chapter points added to the timeline. I created 12 poster frames matching the 12 chapters. The poster frames have been dragged from the project panel to the time line directly behind the full video timeline. I set the main menu, with "play video" and "Scenes Index" buttons, as first play and linked the "play video" button to Full Video timeline. Then I linked the Full Video Timeline to go back to the main menu when it finishes playing. Also, I set the poster frames, matched with the Chapter Point icons on the timeline and they will be used as video thumbnail buttons in a different menu. When I premiere the timeline, I plays fine until it reaches the endo of the full video at which time it plays the poster frame and then goes back to the main menu. I hope that makes some sense.

10. Re: First Play not working?
Andrey V Oct 9, 2006 3:48 PM (in response to jefbak)of course it will play your poster frames that set up after the main video on the time line.
what you need to do is to create another time line and set poster frames there, because main video should be on its own time line which has to have end action set to Return to main menu as a Default. in this case it will play only main video and return to main menu.
as far as a first play goes. you can create your own logos or warning sings and import them as a time line and set them up as a first play or you could set up a menu to be as a first play, or you could set up your poster frames on separate time line as a first play and dvd player would read that and play it as soon as you insert a disk. and don't forget to link first play end action to main menu, them main move end action link to main menu as well
