Operating system error: number = 0x00000020.

Well I decided to create a new thread because nothing I have read so far has helped and I have long since grown past complaining about Adobe.

I'm two years into post on an indi feature film project and we test and revue finished scenes in low res on DVD. Now the 0x00000020 error message has just started to haunt me. I have been using Encore since it first appeared and now have the latest version with all the updates for it and Windows etc. I have been burning successful DVD's on the same system for a while and nothing has changed. I don't even let that network online. Encore is buggier than anything else I have ever used but I have sent out plenty of working DVD's using it. Now I have something I havent found a way to workaround. I have just created a brand new project and imported a single asset just a video file that has been reduced to standard PAL format from HDV. I use them all the time. This is the second edit using the same source files. The first edit worked fine. The file is set to play and then stop that is all. This still throws up the Operating system error: number = 0x00000020. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".

It can't be a menu problem because there arent any and there are no links to trip it up. My feeling is that its a transcoding problem. Any coherent ideas of how to fix it would be much appreciated.

          Ray.

Can I ask a couple of questions?
1 - What was used to turn the HDV into SD? (Application, codec & settings please)
2 - What was the source of the HDV file - Mac, PC, Application & settings please.
3 - This is the second edit. Are you trying to put it into the same project with the same file name?
4 - Can you try deleting the old project, launch Encore, delete the Media Cache, and start a new project for the second edit.
          What happens then?

The file was rendered from Premier from Prospect HD. I have tried 3 versions now including the Cineform AVI, Cineform M2T and even the Microsoft AVI all with untouched standard preset settings. I have done this many times before with no hassle.
All footage was captured and rendered into Premier using Prospect on XP 64. I have been using this for a couple of years and despite what people say I find it reliable and very stable.
I have tried deleting the media cache and have started a new project.
Same thing happens every time. I was just asked for another copy of my original edit and that project still works fine.

              suspect transcoding too...

just compiled a fresh project with only vob files that were data-copied straight from some dvds. left all untranscoded but 1 that seemed to require transcoding. fine.  so i try all transcoding settings but always gives me codeless error.  tried using nero to convert but didn't even let me import that particular vob, the rest were fine.

finally gave up n omitted that 1 vob n voila, encore started building.  i blame that particular dodgy vob, but still this bug needs to be fixed.
