3. Re: Installing Encore Only...
Neil Wilkes Feb 17, 2006 4:14 AM (in response to Mediadude8)Still waiting for my bundle to arrive, so cannot be certain.
Hoewever, from previous experience with both the Creative Suite and the older Video Collection, it should be perfectly possible to only install Encore 2.0 and not the whole bundle.
Not sure why you would wish to do this though - you'll lose the dynamic link functionality, and you'll have wasted rather a lot of money into the bargain.
But it should be possible to do this. -
4. Re: Installing Encore Only...
Mediadude8 Feb 17, 2006 7:30 AM (in response to Mediadude8)I'll explain. I use two computers for production...one for Video and one for Authoring DVD's and CD Rom's and they are networked together. I only install what is absolutely necessary for video on the video computer. So since you're allowed to install on two computers, I thought I would put encore on my assistants computer which is also networked...but he can't install the rest of the suite as I will be using up my two computer license with the other software that goes into both of my computers. Make sense? -
5. Re: Installing Encore Only...
Neil Wilkes Feb 17, 2006 8:10 AM (in response to Mediadude8)Makes perfect sense to me.
However, where you may have a problem here is that you will effectively be installing to 3 computers, not 2.
Activation is going to generate 3 different hardware configurations. It might be a good idea to call support, explain what your situation is, and see what they say.
However.
Although you do indeed get 2 installations, it's not supposed to be used in this way - what you are effectively doing here is getting 2 installations for the price of one.
The idea behind 2 installations is NOT so your assistant can have an installation as well as you - it's so you can install to your laptop, or similar.
Both installations should not be used at once, if you read the EULA. -
6. Re: Installing Encore Only...
Mediadude8 Feb 17, 2006 8:37 AM (in response to Mediadude8)I get it. It's not a big issue. I figured since I was entitled to two, it would be OK. Not important and not worth the headache. He just wanted to play around with it to learn it while I was using my version for production. Thanks for your insight. -
7. Re: Installing Encore Only...
Neil Wilkes Feb 17, 2006 8:47 AM (in response to Mediadude8)2 installations would be okay.
But not across 3 computers is all.
(I have to admit I cannot think of any way around this) -
