    ''Normalizing Volume" on LP Recording

      Durin, are you out there??
I have begun my project of digitizing old LPs and it is going great.
Question: I record an entire side of an album using markers to indicate tracks. When saving to file should I "normalize volume" before saving? How many dB is enough/too much? While the waveforms in a non-adjusted track appear small, say +/- 13 Hz, they don't sound bad in playback. Before I burn to CD though, I'd like to know there's a benefit to increasing volume??
      Thanks....

It's certainly a fine idea to normalize your tracks after running them through a click/pop remover (to avoid normalizing to a click, which may be much louder than the rest of the audio.) Normalizing will ensure all your CDs are pretty close to the same relative volume. If you plan to encode them to MP3 or another digital format, you'll also want to normalize ahead of time to make sure you're not constantly adjusting the volume and that you don't need to re-encode an already encoded file.
