    rollover behaviour shifts centered page alignment

    sausage dog
      OK, I have put together a quick website that has centered tables on every page. All of the pages on the site appear exectly in the same place when I switch between them, but if I place a rollover behavour onto an image it alters the page so that the centred table shifts slightly to the right.

      The only way I seem to be able to get around this is to create an iframe and load the html with the rollover into it.

      Any ideas what coulds be causing this?

      Thanks

          Are the sizes of your tables fixed or relative?

            They are all fixed. Strange thing is that I duplicated another page from my site that remains centered, and the second I place a rollover in there it develops the same problem as in the original post.

              Have a link to these pages?

              Are some of the pages shorter than others, in that one fits inside a certain
              browser window size and another page you need to scroll within the same
              window size?

                Is this in FireFox or Internet Explorer? Is the scroll bar appearing or
                disappearing between pages?

                  You are seeing a border on the image when you roll it.

                  Try adding this to your CSS -

                  a:hover img { border:none; }

                      I have been viewing it in IE 7. The unfinished site is located at the address below.

                      http://www.lostpilots.co.uk/web%20design.htm

                      There is an arrow next to the dogbox image that I would like switch to a red arrow via rollover (and when I hover over the dogbox image). I have no problem with that, but when I add the behaviour in Dreamweaver it shifts theentire table to the right.

                      The current source code for the buttons position reveals this:

                      <tr>
                      <td height="70" align="center" valign="bottom"><a href="web design dogbox slide.htm" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('bkleft','','images/redarrowleft.gif',1)"></a><a href="web design dogbox slide.htm"><img src="images/dogboxtitle.jpg" name="dogboxrecords" width="400" height="50" border="0" id="dogboxrecords"/></a><a href="web design dogbox slide.htm"><img src="images/blackarrowright.gif" name="dbright" width="15" height="15" hspace="10" vspace="16" border="0" id="dbright"/></a></td>
                      </tr>

                      Maybe the rolover code needs to be removed and inserted from scratch?

                      Any Ideas

                        Spaces in filenames. That's doom.

                        "><a href="web design
                        > dogbox slide.htm" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()"
                        > onmouseover="MM_swapImage('bkleft','','images/redarrowleft.gif',1)"></a>

                        Empty anchor? Lose it.

                        Add the recommended CSS to your page/stylesheet. That's going to fix what
                        you are seeing.
