Changing selectedChild in a viewstack, then state within that view

I am creating an intranet app with a drop-down nav. I want the user to be able to click the top level of the nav and be directed to the base view of a viewstack, but if they select one of the sub-menu items they are directed to a different state within that viewstack. Is there a way to switch the selectedChild of the viewstack and the state of the view together?

To clarify, you will be using a ComboBox to navigate a ViewStack, and if the user selects the first (top-most) item in the ComboBox, the "base" ViewStack child is displayed, and if they choose items in the ComboBox at index 1, 2, 3, etc. then other ViewStack children are displayed?

Sounds like you don't need states here. Usually you use states OR a ViewStack. If you are truely using both, then I don't have a clear idea of when (and why) the user would navigate the ViewStack as opposed to changing states.
