    Text replacing image! HELP!

    Shawn Kirsch Level 1
So I am creating my first website, and I have gone through those tutorials in order to get a good feeling for dreamweaver, I am making a site that is mainly table based, and I want to put images over a image, but everytime I do it it deletes the image, I can't figure it out. Thanks for the help.

You are selecting the image, and then you begin typing? Sure - that would
          delete the image.

Look - the best way to get text over an image is to put the text IN THE
IMAGE. The second best way would be to make the image be the background
image for a container and put the text in the container. But, be aware that
this method, or any other method for superimposing the text over the image
will all suffer from the same unpleasant downside. A single resize of the
text display in the browser will trash your layout.

So - the bottom line is this: why are you trying to do this? If it's to
have the website be a big graphic with text superimposed at key locations,
then that's not a website. It's a badly flawed plan, and will never be
satisfactory. Can you tell us if this is what you are trying to do?

All I really want is a simple 4 table website that I can put links in the left side and just update the big center area. It's kinda just a simple website, that I need in case I need to showcase some of my work.

(here is a sample of what it would look like.)
            |---------------------------------|

            |___| |______________|

Where do you need to put text over images? It'll never work, really.
