Basically Flex eg. Flash Player is only capable of opening .pdf files in this case.
If you working from a browser the you should be capable of doing it with the help of a small php script.
I remember seeing a set of components called "Microsoft Office Web Components" maybe you have a look at them they might help
My question is similar to this one. We are developing a Flex application to call a search engine to search documents for key words and display the document hit list using the datagrid component. Once a user clicks on the list, we want to display the documents in a Flex component. The documents are RTF at this time, but could be converted to HTML . I'm currently opening up a new browser window to display the document, but this method is not very appealing.
Tryed the TextArea component with HTML, but it seemed to not like the meta tags nor the tags that ms-word adds to the converted RTF documents. Also tried OpenOffice for RTF to HTML convertion, but it also adds <meta> tags that the text area did not like.
Question - Is their any flex component that can display HTML, RTF or PDF documents within the Flex Application.
As far as I know Flex (eg. the flash player doesn't support the display of any document formats, and HTML is not really supported as we would like)
There is altough a workaround if you really really need it desperatly: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/communityengine/index.cfm?event=showdetails&productId=2&postI d=12208
And if you have time go have a look at this post with source code.
