I have a Mac OSX 10.3.9 and was told by the online tax service that the reason I could not download my return for printing was because I don't have Acrobat Reader 9. I have Acrobat 7 Professional. It seems to me that a PDF is a PDF and should be able to be viewed by even antique versions of Acrobat. I thought that was one of the major points of a PDF file. Am I mistaken?
There exists different PDF versions. Acrobat 7 can display PDF files with version 1.6, 1.5, and lower.

That's backwards. Older PDF's are easily viewable with newer versions.
It cold be that their PDF's contain elements that were not available in older versions of Reader/Acrobat.
