How would you mask a swf?

I am embedding swf content into my flex application and when I do, the swf shows all the extra elements that you would not normally see when you play it in, lets say flash player.

For example: I have this game which has a moving object. When it is built in flash, it starts off the canvas and then appears on it, then goes off. In flash player you wouldn't see the starting point and ending point. In flex, when I embed it, it shows everything!

I would like to know if there is a setting to enable this 'mask', or if I would actually have to go in and create a mask over the swf.

      (I'm using mx:SWFLoader)

      Thanks in advance!
