Did you study the PDF that comes with mochaAE? It describes procedures for getting usable point data in a tutorial. If I recall correctly, you need to set it up so, that in fact you track the edges to which a point belongs, requiring to at least have 2 distinct points in view all the time. It's stil la planar track of some sort, of course....

There's a new tutorial on the Imagineer site that does exactly what you've asked about. It adds a flash to a gun. It's the top tutorial on the list. The principals will work with Mocha for AE.
