I have a bunch of vector and bitmap images I'm importing into Flash CS4 from Illustrator and/or Photoshop.
I can import the PSD directly into Flash
and AI directly into Flash
import the PSD into Illustrator, then import ONLY an AI into Flash.
Is there any degredation in the quality of the bitmaps, if I send them through Illustrator?
I would think the only difference is that Illustrator is a vector based program, whereas Photoshop is pixel based. The vector images are much cleaner because you don't have the jagged edges as you do with pixeled images. I tend to create most of my graphics work in Illustrator because the images end up much cleaner.
My question is whether a bitmap loses quality if it goes from photoshop through illustrator to flash. I think illustrator files tend to import a little better into flash than photoshop files.
I do agree that vector is sharper in most cases. I try to keep all of my text & basic graphics as vector. Most of my bitmaps are full blown illustrations though.
