    Flash Movie Properties

    StanKnight

      Hi everyone,

I am new to flash but I really am loving it.  I am coming from a programming side and was curious if there is any way to make Properties in a movie clip?

Like in VB.NET or so you can go

      Property Something as String

can you do that with movie clips? What I want to do is make a movie clip so I can access a label "lblMovie" from the main frame.

Any help would be appreciated... And Adobe..you rule

In flash these are called "instance names"

To set an instance name, select the instance of your clip on the stage, and go to the properties panel.

In the properties panel there is an input text field that should have a grayed out "<instance name>" message.  Enter a name (lblMovie) into this box, and you can access it from the script (ie - lblMovie.play() )
