Where did you get the AVI file? Premiere has a tendancy to work best with video you captured from a pro camera. Many other kinds of video do often cause issues.
I downloaded many of the videos from YouTube. Some were from my own Canon camera.
I had the same problem when I first tried all this in Feb. but then my computer was so slow I couldn't export the final file.
BUT I had figured out what something brilliant in Premiere Pro that made the films play at the right speed back then..
Now I can't for the life of me figure it out.
Same video clips as in Feb. so I know they can work in premiere but I can't remember what magic I worked then.
Any advice would be super appreciated.
