1. Re: Problem backing up ses files
Neil Wilkes Apr 15, 2009 1:52 AM (in response to jbandy)Is the external HDD formatted as FAT32 or NTFS?
If FAT32 (and by default they all are so that they will also work on MAc systems) then you are going ti run into a limitation of (I think) 64 characters.
What happens if you reformat the HDD as an NTFS volume?
(Or, if working on a Mac system, HFS+)

Bill Hunt Apr 19, 2009 8:17 AM (in response to Neil Wilkes)Neil,
Probably a perfect call. All of my externals are Converted/Formatted to NTFS upon arrival, and I've never encountered any problem when doing a full backup of an Encore Project to them. I do use "_" instead of spaces in my Project File Names now, But even with spaces, I didn't encounter any problems.

Neil Wilkes Apr 22, 2009 5:00 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Additionally, you may also hit a file size problem on FAT32 drives.
These are restricted to no more than 2Gb/file.
NTFS/HFS+ are not restricted in this manner.....

jbandy Sep 7, 2009 8:32 PM (in response to jbandy)All my drives are formated to NTFS. I was able to back them up by opening the projects and saving as a shorter file name with less characters.
