As you probably know PE7 is not supported under Vista 64 although folks do run it under Vista 64... not sure if capture is an issue under Vista 64.
Have you tried to capture into Windows MovieMaker... see if you can successfully capture using this application?
thanks for the reply and NO I don't know about the lack of x64 support. I checked out the system requirements first and it is not mentioned not to install on a 64 bit machine. I have noticed however that is has installed into my program files (x86) folder.
Do you have any tips for completely removing Premiere from my computer?
Although it is not officially supported folks do use it with Vista 64, many without issue. It will work in 32bit compatibility mode and that is why it is installed in the x86 folder, as it is a 32 bit application. Your capture issue may not be a 64 bit issue, that is why I was asking if you can capture into MovieMaker... to determine if it was a general capture issue.
Only way I know to remove it is to use the Windows Add/Remove programs... also be sure to select remove all your preferences and presets when asked.
Considering that the Capture had progressed for 45 mins. two things come to my mind:
2.) Power Management
For all NLE work, Capture, edit, Burn, whatever, I have Screensavers to OFF and Power Management to OFF, as well. Might be worth looking into those two areas.
