Either way could be ok, it just depends on how much performance will be involved in doing this on the server vs on the client.
Right, but how would I best go about this, since the dataProvider for the tree needs to be a nested multi-dimensional array. This is turning my brain to mush this late in the day.
Given the first scenario: how would I pass the result to FLEX over Zend_Amf, i.e. what kind of ValueObject would it have to be?
Given the second scenario: how would I create a multi-dimensional array in FLEX out of a one-dimensional array?
I'm not asking for the solution here, just a pointer to some resources.
Hi there, so the Tree is a hierarchical control as you know, so you usually fill a tree with an xml structure, so if you want it to be bindable obviusly you'll go using an XMLListCollection, I recommend you to read the livedocs help here to better understand how to populate it.
I've read through that as well in my search for a solution. However, I'm not using an XML source here, since the data is derived from a collection of objects. I would much rather dynamically build the nested array on the fly based on the value objects collection.
Obviously I'm fairly new to FLEX, so my immediate goal is how to programatically construct nested arrays using AS3.
Even if I were to use XML, I would have to build that from scratch as well, meaning I would have to figure out how to build a nested XMLListCollection object derived from my value object collection.
