What is the file that you have downloaded (three times)?
What I recommend you try:
- download, install, and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility; remove all versions of Adobe Reader
- download this installer, and run it ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.1/enu/AdbeRdr910_en_US.msi
Thanks for the reply.
The file I've downloaded is AdbeRdr910_en_US_Std
It was from the Adobe website, http://get.adobe.com/reader
Can the file you linked be installed without first deleting the others?
I'm worried that if I delete all previous versions, and still can't install, then I'll have nothing.
There is a change that you may succeed by just running AdbeRdr910_en_US.msi - in which case everything is OK.
If you do not succeed, then your only way to install 9.1 is to remove 9.0 (including Acrobat.com and Adobe AIR) from your computer, then run the above install. The 1316 error usually indicates that some portions of the earlier version prevents the newest version to be installed.
If you want to be 100% safe, perform a complete backup of your system before you remove Reader 9.0.
