windowman Apr 17, 2009 2:36 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Really? So it's not just me. I don't understand how it could happen. I'm no programmer, but I mess around with some Java and Flash scripting, and the math functions are all done for you by the program if you make a game or something of that sort. I don't know what program spider solitaire was written with, but if the program language itself is causing the error then other programs written by the same program must have math errors too I presume, at least when it comes to percentages. That's why I put up the post. Spider solitaire is just a game, but I wonder if there might be some serious apps out there written in the same language that are outputting percentage errors that could be important to someone? Curiouser and curiouser.

Stan Jones Apr 17, 2009 7:29 PM (in response to windowman)Man. The more I think about it, the more steamed I get. I mean Microsoft must have really rushed the programmers to get this out. I don't think I'll ever enuoy another game of spider. I may just roll back to minesweeper.....

novelt-7 Apr 17, 2009 10:33 PM (in response to windowman)i play all the time..and sorry but it's accurate. you are doing the wrong math. the menu shows total games won and total games lost. you are getting your percentage from those two figures. the actual win percentage is over the total games played. so add the wins to the losses and then use that sum to get your percentage.
glad to help

windowman Apr 18, 2009 8:46 AM (in response to novelt-7)Oh dang... I knew I must have been doing something wrong. You're exactly right. I was looking at the losses and somehow "reading" total number of games played.

Stan Jones Apr 19, 2009 1:43 PM (in response to windowman)Ha, ha! Well, that was fun anyway. Sorry, Charles, that I stayed too literal when I "tested" your results.

windowman Apr 19, 2009 9:33 PM (in response to Stan Jones)There's no fool like an old fool. I'm 50 now, so I'm just doing my part to keep the tradition alive and doing it quite well I must say.
