I have a video chat client that seems to be working fine now (except for echo cancellation...) When I leave it connected for a while though the connection seems to time out. So my question is should I be watching for some event that says I'm about to time out? Or should I be sending some kind of heartbeat to the stratus server so I don't get disconnected?
Stratus doesn't time out connections. Flash Player 10.0 should automatically be sending heartbeats every 90 seconds or so to keep the underlying RTMFP session to Stratus alive, and NAT translations alive and firewall punched-holes open.
how long is the interval from connection (or last-use) to disconnect?
Thanks for the reply, it was a couple of hours when I noticed it.
It's possible the machine went to sleep or at least into screen saver mode
during that time. If that's the case I'm guessing flash would stop sending
the heartbeat and I'd have to detect that and reconnect. Does that
yes, if your computer goes to sleep for more than a few minutes (potentially less), the connection to the server will almost certainly be lost.
