If you are using Vista, you might need to run FB as admin. I know I have seen ieuser.exe issues before. (I use IE7 to debug only, cause it used to bring down my FF which was a major pain.)
This is almost always due to Flash Player version.
Have you *verified* that you have the correct debug player installed?
Installing it is not sufficient, you need to verify it using one of the websites that do that. Here is one.
Also make sure FlexBuilder is set to use the browser you verify has the debug player.
I checked out my Flash Version on the site above and it looks like it's fine.
Your Player Version: WIN 9,0,124,0
Debug Player: Yes
Operating System: Windows XP
Video Capable: Yes
Audio Capable: Yes
Local File I/O Enabled: Yes
The odd thing is that the trouble seemed to start out of the blue. I've been debugging in FireFox for months, then one morning it can't connect to the debugger. Luckily I can debug in IE, but I still don't know what's up with FireFox.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Chrome works too. Anyone know why Flex Builder would have a problem with debugging in Firefox?
I have had problems with FireFox 2 and then 3 crashing with Flex 3 in Vista. So the alternative I choose wais to go into the project properties and select Run/Debug settings and then the application, uncheck defaults and then for Debug use the swf in the bin folder. Ex: C:\Users\username\Documents\Flex Builder 3\projectname\bin\Main.swf.
You end up having to resize each time you do a run debug, but that will get you back to using the debugger when you needed.
For straight trace statements you may consider getting the latest version of Flash Tracer (I have 2.3.1) and you can then use the Run button and see your trace statements in the browser for debugging browser network types of issues.
To anyone plagued by this, check out this link... There are several solutions there including my own... Hope this can help you get back to your debugging!
