I was reading about the built in AIR update feature and testing it, I came up with a problem...
Lets say I have a 100mb application and I want to change a few small things, like for example correct a spelling error in index.html, change the background.jpg picture and add a new video. Does my update file really need to have all the old files + changes (~101mb) or can I create just a small file with the changes (~1mb)?
I tryed creating an update where I deleted all the folders and files in the 'installer settings' and added just the ones I changed, but when I installed the update, it deleted the all files allready present and I ended up with just the update files.
Is there an option to configure the AIR update installer to just update or add files to the installation, and not delete the files allready present?
No. The update must include all files.
A workaround is to have the application copy the data files into the application storage directory (not the installation directory) from a known location when it first runs.
