Just a question, because that could explain a change in the Dynlink behavior.
Did you trial the Production Premium Suite, or just downloaded the AE and Ppro trials separately ?
And did you purchase the Production Premium/ Master Suite or just AE and Ppro separately ?
I trialed AE & PPro seperately but then bought Production Premium.
Do you have Premiere and After Effects open at the same time ?
If it's the case, you can either import a Ppro seq into AE, or an AE comp into Ppro, but not in the same session. Once you imported a Ppro comp into AE, AE becomes the DynamicLink Server host. If Ppro is open, even if you open or create a new project, you won't be able to import anything in Premiere via DynamicLink, until you close AE, so Ppro can become the DynamicLink Server Host.
As soon as an app becomes a DynamicLink Server, you won't be able to import Dynlink stuff into any other app until that app is closed.
And remember also that Dynamic link cannot be recursive too. You can't import in AE a Ppro timeline that have a AE dynamiclinked comp inside.
Thats odd because in the help files there is a link to linking a dynamic link from AE to Ppro via drag and drop. your suppose to drag your comp from AE then you can drop it in your project tab under Ppro and link it from there without rendering or anything. so im confused where you got your facts from because im haveing the same problem as the person who posted this and im not sure what to think now! well i can think of a couple things but ill leave it alone.
Can you give the link to the help file.
Anyway, the fact that you can only go in one way doesn't have to do anything with drag & dropping.
The first app in which you dl something become the DL Server and the other the client. So if on project A you open Ppro, then DL into it an AE seq, Ppro becomes the DL server. If then you open Project B in AE and want to DL Ppro stuff inside AE you'll get the error. SO what you need to do then is close and relaunch app so AE can become the DL server.
Also, you cannot make a cycle DL: you cannot import in AE, a Ppro project dynlinked to an AE project, and vice-versa.
ok so i did what you said i closed all apps then re opened . so i may have a problem now. Im doing a bunch of test and sanarios and seems to me i edit in AVCHD and when i try to import project file-import-import premier pro project. it asked for sequence or dynamic link <ive tryed both btw> and i get a not even sure what its called. some type of like you know what a off air looks like on your tv i get that. but when i import something over like DV or what not it comes over just fine back and forth like its suppose to . really hard for me because i do everything in AVCHD and i cant bring over HD directly into AE without fist bring it over in Ppro. what step am i missing. ive gone from not being able to bring back my comp from Ppro to AE back to Ppro to a hole new problem am i missing something. <BANGS HEAD ON DESK>?
I did the walk threw from this link http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/9.0/WS4648B7F7-2D89-4765-BC8A-271D9A7574A3a.html
and now i can get this to wrk only problem is now i get MEDIA OFFLINE on just my AVCHD stuff ....HAHA HAHA IM GOING NUTTY Any thoughts
Sebastien asked if the person having trouble was using previously purchased software, but he wasn't.
I AM! And I'm having the same problem.
I have an existing license for AE, but now also have acquired (won it actually at my users group) the Production Suite.
Could this be causing my server busy problem? First time I tried it I got the error.
I'm trying to drop my AP sequence into AE.
Please point me to that buried tech-support file that tells me what I need to wipe clean to get it to be happy!
I've tried to re-load the "new" version of AE, but it doesn't even show up in the Production Premium Installer for some reason.
Let's stick to your newly created thread to avoid confusion...
