An animation is simply changing a (visible) property over time. In your case you would change texture.image at some regular interval. What part of this do you need help with?
I was trying to put an animated gif (or MOV file) on the plane @ 3ds Max, before importing it to Director. And I was hoping to see that animated gif (or MOV file) to play (with loop) on Director output. On 3ds Max's export preview screen I can see the first frame of the animation on the plane but it's not looping
honestly I don't understand the programming. I am the 3D modeller guy in a small game development team. But, I want to make their life easier so I decided to do whatever I can on 3D Studio Max before handing in my exported W3D file.
is there anything that I can do in 3ds Max about this alpha channelled animations to make them apppear and loop on planes ? (or should it be handled in Director exclusively ?)

It wont show it the preview window. that would only show in director. director doesnt have an automatic way of playing animated textures sadly. this should have been corrected years ago. but there is a work around, you would have to use code that grabs the animation from your gif or flash whatever the source. and applies it as a texture to your model. if no one else post the code I would have to find it. but I could post it
I tried to make it work but no luck so far. and I will be very happy if anyone can help me further.
I need to play a ".mov" file with transparent background on a plane in my scene.
my plane's name is "deera"
my applied texture to that plane is a ".mov file" named as "tdeer.mov"
what should I add to my code to do that ?
