    Unknown files in cache

    bhata Level 1

I always get several files in my cache:

        valentines_prv ... pek / cfa

        SpringFlower_prv ... pek / cfa

        autumn_leaves_prv... pek / cfa

        christmas_prv... pek / cfa

        scary Holloween_prv ... pek / cfa

and I get multiple versions of them

        valentines_prv 48000_1.pek

        valentines_prv 48000_2.pek

        valentines_prv 48000_3.pek

      etc.

It's not so much those files, but the time that it takes when PE7 "conforms" these files.

How do I get rid of these from being created?

      TIA

The pek files are the files that show the audio waveform on the timeline and the cfa files are conformed audio files... the audio has been "conformed" to 48kHz.

These are the audio files created from for the Themes, they are created even if you are not using them in a project. I believe they are created each time you create a project... that is why you get multiple copies. There is a workaround to stop them being created, see this thread from over on Muvipix

Well, like 'cavemandude', things got worse.  I'm guessing that "cleaning the Media Cache Database (Edit > Preferences > Media)" caused all the Movie Themes to start "conforming" into the cache (don't do this...).  Changing the 5 files to hidden/read-only did prevent multiple versions from being created.

            harumph...
