OK so i took the mpeg file to my G5 to see if it would play in sync there.
Adobe Media player doesn't recognize the mpeg
It wouldn't play in quicktime,
but i did get it to play in VLC, and it played in sync...
what does that mean?
I am importing video, and for some reason the track is not in sync.
I am new to Premiere again (haven't used in it in almost 15 years) and can't seem to find a way to delay the audio back to where it belongs.
to be honest, i am feeling like this is the least intuitive program i have used by adobe ever. I hope there is something simple i am missing. cause otherwise i am feeling rather 'new'...
Any help is appreciated.
i'm using this on an iMac (1.5 GB RAM) cause i can't use it on my Quad G5 (8GB RAM)seeing as though there is no support for 2 year old hardware.
When you say importing, from what camera, what format and how? Importing suggests from a non-tape based camera, or did you mean capturing from a tape based camera?
PP implies a pro oriented application, not an intuitive consumer oriented application like Elements. What is your feeling about After Effects? Is that intuitive?
i am capturing from tape from a HandyCam HDR-FX7
and yes, i realise PP is Pro oriented... i have been using PS, ill and other design programs for more than 15 years, as well as flash and director... i figured i would be able to pick up PP in a relitively quick maner. This apperently is not the case.
I haven't got to Affter effects yet. still trying to get this video to sync it's audio, crop and edit it... than i'll move to AE and see how that goes.
So capturing HDV over firewire? If there is something like HDVSplit for the MAC, you could try that. Or are you downconverting to DV in camera?
Recording in HDV (1080i)
Transfuring over firewire
i do not know what HDVSplit is.
Often audio sync problems are caused by dropped frames. In the PC world there is a freeware utility HDVSplit that effectively eliminates these problems to a very large degree and adds scene detection. I'm not familiar with the MAC world (too expensive and insufficient expansion options), so it is difficult to give you a solution. Maybe a Google search can help you.
I'll look into something like that, but it still doen't explain why it plays in sync on my G5 when i use VLC.
