How are you taking the file to other computers?
If you are burning to discs do not use the "drag to disc" option. It sometimes will not play on other computers.
I'm using the default NTSC 1024 kb preset and posting to a FTP site for client approval.
Here's a new bit of information.
When I export the entire sequence, the wmv is fine.
When I export just a section of the sequence the wmv is bad.
chances are that when you download your wmv from FTP site, they are not properly downloaded and hence are not being played back properly.
Can you try moving same file from your original system to some other system locally using some other means (such as pendrive or any hard drive) and then check if it shows same problem? needless to mention that you need to have Windows Media Player on both the systems.
i tried exporting the entire senquence and then just a part of it to WMV with same preset. i could see no difference in the outputs. both the outputs were fine and were playing back easily. Are you making some other changes apart from the duration of sequence?
Thanks for the response. I've sent it to other computers' hard drives here and their windows media players won't play them. (They are running XP)
Hi, when the file won't play, is it video and audio or just video? Does WM player prompt for a codec to play the file? What version of WM player have you tried it on? WM player 11 plays most files.
I get this all the time here - Im in UK so on PAL system and at the moment, I export as PAL widescreen high quality download (Im on prem CS4) some machines play it, others dont until they get the codec.
Have you tried exporting clip as avi then converting thru a third party converter? You often get more choice of wmv types so you could try out different ones to see what works - not the proper solution to your problem I know, but it may help reveal the root cause.
I use Aimersoft video converter for that kind of thing - its brilliant - and quick.
