This is my first experience using AVCHD clips and I am struggling to find the best way to edit a concert that was recorded with two HDV cameras and 1 AVCHD camera. I am using PPCS4 and I'm trying to determine the best way to edit in PPCS4 link to Encore to output SD DVD's and BLU RAY.
Should I add the AVCHD clip to a timeline that is appropriate for the HDV footage or create a timeline for the AVCHD footage and drop in the HDV footage? What will result in best quality?
Should I convert the AVCHD clip to HDV? I know that this would make editing a lot easier, but what program do you suggest? Can I do this in PPCS4?
I'm already seeing the performance problem while syncing these 3 clips up... I just don't know where to begin!
Thank you for any help, suggestions or personal experience with editing the two.
If you need to mix the footage on one timeline, I would default to HDV and convert the AVCHD files to MPG2.
I suggest you try it in Pr by making an avchd seq, export a sample clip to mpg2, then import the converted files to an hdv seq mix it with other hdv clips.
I ended up using Elecard AVCHD to HDV converter. The AVC footage looks great after being converted and is much easier to edit.
Thank you for the help!
