    dynamic textfield

    brian914 Level 1

      I am trying to put text into a dynamic text field and somehow it does not seem to work. I have this:

      var mytext:String = "My Video Title";

      video_player.vid_title_txt.text = mytext;

      When I do that, the text field just goes blank. I have tried all kind of different stuff, but can't seem to make it happen. What am I doing wrong?

      Thank you,

      Brian

          use trace(video_player.vid_title_txt.text) to make sure your textfield path/name are correct and, if so, check if you need to embed your font (because your textfield is masked or rotated etc) and check that the font color is not the same as the background color.

            If the trace from kglad's post is successful, try auto-sizing the textfield:

            video_player.vid_title_txt.autoSize = "left";

              If I do this:

              var mytext:String = "blablabal";

              video_player.vid_title_txt.text = mytext;

              trace("text is: " + video_player.vid_title_txt.text);

              The trace says:

              text is: blablabal

              So seems like it is working, but it just does not show.

              I have character embedding set to Basic Latin.

              Adding this did not seem to make a difference either.

              video_player.vid_title_txt.autoSize = "left";

              What else should I look at, or what could I be doing wrong?

              Thanks so much for the help!

                try changing the embedding to: uppercase, lowercase, numerals, punctuation

                OR

                try changing to 'use device fonts' and see if that makes a difference.
