The readme for Director 11.5 clearly states (Adobe Director 11.5 Read Me.pdf):
Director Player and Shockwave Player
- Intel Pentium IV 600MHz or higher
- Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or later
- Microsoft Windows Vista
There's no suggestion there that Win98 is supported, and I'm not sure where you got the impression it might be. It may work if you try running your projector in compatibility mode (right-click the executable, select Properties -> Compatibility)
thank you Sean, I'll try the right click compatability. guess I've got to go back to a previous director to make win '98 stuff for schools. sigh.
It's really too bad that the school cannot find the funding or charitable donation to get newer computers since working computers perfectly capable of running winXP are thrown out every day... besides that point, Microsoft does not even support win98 anymore; in fact, it doesn't even make it on the list for service pack updates so it's not too surprising that new versions of Director that support Vista don't support Windows 98. To see, check this link out: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/servicepacks.mspx
It's too bad about school funding, including teacher salaries. I'll
try running an older version of director on a friends PC and make a
win 98 that way. Maybe it won't be needed in a couple of years,
when the old PC's die off of neglect.
