I hope someone can help. I'm testing out Premier Elements 7 and trying to capture DVcam video that was shot in widescreen (16x9), but is not high definition. When capturing, the only option that recognizez my source signal is "DV camcorder" but that captures in a 4:3 aspect ratio - thereby making my video look squeezed. Is there a setting where I can capture non-HD video in widescreen? Thanks in advance for any advice. Joe B.
At the start up splash screen select the Widescreen DV project rather than the Standard DV project. You select New Project and in the Change Settings drop down you can select it.
If you have selected a widescreen project and you are getting the squished video issue then select the clip in the project Media Bin, right click on it and select Interpret Footage, then select Conform To and select the D1/DV Widescreen option, either the NTSC or PAL one dependant on your region. This will correct the video in the monitor and it will fit the frame.
Thank you Paul. That was it.
