Multiple Users Not Alerted When Document Locked Using Extended Features

Is there a way to alert a user that a pdf document is locked when opening it using Adobe Reader?

I'm using Extended Features in Adobe Reader to use the Comment and Markup feature.  I have a team of people across multiple locations adding comments and markups to documents.  When a document is opened a user may make a number of comment and markup changes and not be able to save the document (with the same name) as another user elsewhere may have the document open.  Saving the document with a different name defeats ths purpose as we want one document with everyone's comments.

When using Word or Excel documents a user is alerted if someone else has the document open and they are unable to save it.  Does Adobe Reader have a similar feature - or is there a way to create this feature?

(The error that comes up is:  "The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open.  Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."  Of course, if you want to capture the comments on the one document then we want to prevent two people being able to markup the document at the same time )
