change print only to save with modifications

there are bankruptcy pdf forms available for free from the ca court system. they are setup so that you can fill them out and print them but cannot save them with the filled in info, can only save locally a blank form. it is a real pain. if you have to change something, then you have to fill out the entire form again. don't know why they have it set up that way, sounds like some inside lobbying deal with form providers that provide forms that can be filled and saved for a price of course. my question: i have access to a friend with acrobat. can i edit and save the forms in acrobat so that i can open them and fill them out with acrobat reader and save them in the filled out state. i tried one real quick with the options specifying that the pdf can be changed but still comes up in reader with save blank only option.

With Reader you can not make the change. With Acrobat, the change can be made, but it is obvious why the state did not make that change. The change to allow you will the FREE reader to save the form is limited to 500 uses of the form (a problem for a state agency), or would require a negotiated fee to Adobe (basically paying for you to save the form). There are some 3rd party products that allow the saving of the form data.

Further questions about Reader should be directed to the Reader forum.
