Style mapping presets on the mac

    trianita Community Member

I have been using a pc for the last few years and have been able to get indesign to remember my style mapping presets - no problems

However I have switched to a mac with cs4 and when you use a saved preset indesign cant remember the mappings

It sees the file you saved but when you open the preset you see that everything has been reset.

      Does anyone have any ideas?

I noticed that for whatever reason, the DOC styles are mapped under a different set than the RTF set of style mapping

So if it's a .doc extension you get "Microsoft Word Import Options" at the top of the dialog box

if it's a .rtf extension you get "RTF Import Options"

and you get different options for excel and that.

          If that helps?

I'm afraid there's a problem with the application failing to read the data saved into the Style file on disc. I don't see any workarounds possible. The problem can appear to work at times, because the options will persiste between import sesions, but if the last used settings don't match what you saved into the style, then you won't get the expected reesults. We hope to fix this in a future update.
