al4527 May 19, 2009 6:34 AM (in response to trianita)I'm not sure I can answer your question as well as some of the other people on this forum, but I'll try.
The Indesign CS4 exam was written in part by David Blatner and Anne-Marie Concepcion (in association with Adobe of course). Blatner and Concepcion run indesignsecrets.com, which is a blog filled with tips & tricks about InDesign. They also were the guest lecturers for lynda.com's InDesign CS4 New Features, Essential Training, and Beyond the Basics.
Thus, to study for the InDesign CS4 ACE exam, I am:
1. Watching the lynda.com videos
2. Listening to the indesignsecrets.com podcasts (not the best use of time, since they get off-topic often, but it's something passive I can do while cooking, etc.)
3. Reading the online CS4 manual (VERY TEDIOUS).
4. Trying out all things I'm learning on my demo of CS4
It seemed like a good idea to me to study for the exam by reading the materials created BY some of the exam authors . . . though I don't expect them to cover every little detail (that's what reading the manual is for), and they are certainly not claiming to be providing enough information to pass the CS4 exam.
In one of the indesignsecrets podcasts, B & C referred to an eBook that is apparently in the works to guide people studying for the CS4 exam that will be written by Mark Rankin (sp?). I've searched for that book but to no avail - I don't think it's out yet. I think it was podcast #98. (You can read the show notes of each podcast on the indesignsecrets.com website.)
I've seen some "practice exams" on eBay for $9.99, but I don't know anything about them . . .
