Getting an exception while converting file

    ac361 Community Member

Earlier today, Acrobat.com converted a PPT file successfully; now it's throwing this error:

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

          Hi Alex,

I've asked some folks here what that error message means... do you get the same error if you try to convert in a different browser? What OS and browser are you using?

          Thanks,

Hi, Michelle. Thanks for your quick reply. I'm on FF 3.0.10, Win XP Pro SP2. I have the latest Acrobat Pro on my PC but it was throwing an error:

%%[ Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: imageDistiller; ErrorInfo: DCTDecodeFilter Source error or end in scan 0 8x8 block 71491 ]%%

Solution? Under your printers in Windows, right-click Adobe PDF, choose Properties > General tab > Printing Preferences. Make sure the checkbox for "Rely on system fonts; do not use document fonts" is off. I'm not sure why it's throwing the other error on the online version of Acrobat, unless it's unable to find the non-system font I'm using in the PPT file. For now, I've gotten my work done.

I think I know what's going on: It has to do with the Garamond Premr Pro font in the PPT file. It's not embedded in the doc, nor can it be (because it's not a TrueType font). If I were using a TrueType font, I could embed the font and then upload to Acrobat.com; more than likely, this would solve the issue.

It's true that we only have so many fonts on our conversion servers... Thank you for the updates! Glad you were able to sort it out.
